Some recipes and notes for my reference. I am certainly no cook but I hate recipe websites, so stuff I have tried and like will be archived here.
Food based cooking: Buy food first, then decide what you can make with it
- Spend less on groceries
- Reduce food waste
- Make cooking more flexible
- Learn more skills and basic principles
The mindset of starting with a recipe first, then buying specific ingredients for that recipe, is a very new way of thinking. For most of human existence, we start with the ingredients first and utilize our creative capacity to create the dish.
If you build basic knowledge and skills of cooking, you can use the food you already have available to you instead of going to the store every time you want to try a new recipe. Recipes also encourage thinking about food in a very rigid way.
Yeah, I guess this is common knowledge, but I'm very bad at this, so these recipes are to quickly reference while I'm at the store until I commit them to memory. I won't include measurements for most things, and even the specific ingredients are not really that important. To encourage creativity and learning, It's more based on general guidelines and vibes.
